Loudoun County Master Gardeners at INMED

The Loudoun County Master Gardeners are cultivating budding horticulturalists at INMED’s Family & Youth Opportunity Center in Sterling, VA. Students in session 1 of our summer camp learned how to identify different types of seeds, the anatomy of a plant, how to sow and grow vegetables and flowers and why gardening is important to good health. Learn more about INMED’s summer camp at https://opportunitycenter.us. We still have some open slots for sessions 3 and 4. Contact elewis@inmed.org for details. Summer Camp Activities

As we concluded our first week of summer camp, we looked ahead to other exciting activities at the center this summer. Students are already excited for visits from Loudoun County Fire & Rescue, guitar classes, and our new computer lab and library/study hall.

Summer Campers: Gardening Tips

Master Gardeners from the Virginia Cooperative Extension’s Loudoun office delivered 2 sessions on the joy of gardening to INMED’s summer campers. Our kids learned about seeds, plants, soil and how to take care of their own home gardens. By teaching gardening skills, we can encourage healthy eating.

We are excited to recap the first week of Summer Camp!

Through fun and engaging activities, we can teach, support and inspire elementary-aged children to live healthy and happy lives. Within the next few days we will go over our successful previous week and supply a taste of what we do here at INMED’s Family & Youth Opportunity Center!

It takes a village to pull off a Barn Blast!

INMED’s 2nd Annual Barn Blast was a week ago, and we still have more individuals and businesses to thank! Our incredible Community Supporters provided cash and in-kind donations, free and deeply discounted ad space and other creative contributions to ensure our fundraising event exceeded our expectations. A big thank-you to all our guests, who turned out to boogie down to Juliana MacDowell and her band, enjoy some tasty ResQ BBQ and bid like maniacs at our auctions. Finally, a standing ovation to INMED Opportunity Center Executive Director Cecilia Capece and her intrepid team for their untold hours of work and dedication in planning the event!

Summer Camp Starts Today

Today is the first day of Summer Camp Session I at INMED’s Family & Youth Opportunity Center. The classrooms and hallways are abuzz with activity and play.
